PRIMER, como su nombre indica, es el primer evento donde se pueden catar los primeros vinos de la cosecha. Nacio con la filosofía de potenciar los vinos de Maceración Carbónica, y ya en su XI edición se ha convertido en un clásico de los eventos enológicos de nuestro país.

Esperado tanto por aficionados como  profesionales es siempre una interesante muestra de lo que nos depararán los nuevos vinos del 2008 y un marco inigualable para probar la intensidad de aromas y sabores que nos deparan los vinos de Maceración Carbónica.

I really like the possibility to see in very quality video interviews to wine sector personalities, wineries, wine fairs, restaurants and so on.

I personally met Edgar and Eduardo from Vinus TV at the EWBC (European Wine Bloggers Conference) in Logroño this August. They did a nice work and you can see some good interviews of the EWBC in their web page.

Vinus TV es una iniciativa interesante especialmente en el sector del vino español donde no es fácil encontrar a personas que inviertan en proyectos de promoción y marketing.

Realmente me gusta la posibilidad de poder ver en videos de muy buena calidad entrevistas a personas relacionadas con el mundo del vino, bodegas, ferias del sector, restaurantes, etc.

Personalmente coincidí con Edgar y Eduardo de Vinus TV en la EWBC (European Wine Bloggers Conference) en Logroño. Hiceron un buen trabajo cubriendo la conferencia y podéis ver algunas entrevistas interesantes en su pagina web.

Eramos diez personas, muchas de las cuales ya conoceréis: Ryan & Gabriella Opaz de Catavino, nuestro Emilio Sáez abanderando el nuevo proyecto de Casa Vides, Carlos Carvajal de Bolivia que se encuentra haciendo un super Master de vino en Francia, John Maher y su mujer Olga, Pieter Whaley (nuevo export manager de Chozas Carrascal) acompañado por Eva y Michael Grisley importador americano de vinos que junto a Ryan & Gabriella estaban visitando varias bodegas de la zona.

Para el evento había llevado el Dulce Tintoralba para endulzar el final de la velada después de la cena y los grandes vinos que nos dió a catar Juan Ferrer (el Enopata). Pero horror después de servir el Dulce el vino tenía corcho (la primera botella de dulce con corcho que me sale después de casi 3 años con los vinos de Tintoralba).

A VECES PASA y por desgracia nos quedamos sin probar uno de los vinos más singulares que tenemos en nuestra bodega. Pero en fin seguro que habrá más ocasiones para que puedan probarlo y a Juan Ferrer le prometí enviarle otra botella para que pudiera catarla tranquilamente.

Moraleja, no te fies, y si puedes lleva siempre una segunda botella por si acaso…

We are going to visit next week our importer Raymond Reynolds in Manchester & London trying to know more directly the work they are doing in its market and to find together the way to increase our wines sales in that market.

When we go to London, our friend Emilio from the winery blog www.casavides.com has contact with Robert McIntosh to organice a dinnert-tasting with some bloggers. I think it’s a great idea. Thanks Emilio & Robert who met at EWBC 08 in Logroño last month.

If it’s possible, we’ll flight to Ireland, to visit Buble Brothers, maybe you remember them from the post we wrote in our blog. They have tasted our wines and we want to share with their knowledge of the Irish maket and have a good time with them.

One of the most active people in the EWBC 08 (European Wine Bloggers Conference) was the members of Adegga from Portugal, Andre Ribeirinho, Andre Cid & Emídio Santos. They are doing a great work, creating a “Social Wine Discovery”, where you can search for wines and wineries information.

For me, one of the best reasons to visit this web is you can find not only tasting notes but posts from bloggers with opinions and articles about the wine and the winery.

Hola de nuevo a todos

Unos de los más activos en la EWBC 08 (European Wine Bloggers Conference) fueron los miembros de Adegga de Portugal, Andre Ribeirinho, Andre Cid & Emídio Santos. Están haciendo un buen trabajo creando lo que han denominado “Social Wine Discovery”, una web2.0 donde se puede encontrar información sobre una buena cantidad de vinos y bodegas de todo el mundo.

Para mi, una de las mejores razones para visitar esta web es que además de encontrar las tradicionales notas de cata, se incluyen posts (noticias) de bloggers (gente que escribe en los blogs) con opiniones y artículos sobre los vinos y las bodegas.

Increible, un exíto. La European Wine Bloggers Conferences 08 ha sido una gran experiencia y pienso, sin duda, que muchos proyectos saldrán de lo hablado y vivido en esta conferencia en los próximos meses.

A mediados de Julio, nuestro importador en Estados Unidos, Grapes of Spain, nos remitió las nuevas puntuaciones de International Wine Cellar – Stephen Tanzer. Higueruela 07 continua estando muy bien valorado con 88+ (los anteriores años ha obtenido 88) y Loma Gorda 06, nuestro vino comercializado en EEUU con un coupage muy similar al Tintoralba Roble, ha obtenido 90 puntos, una puntuación excepcional para este nuevo vino de Tintoralba.

In mid July, our American importer, Grapes of Spain, assigned the new reviews of Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar. Higueruela 07 is still very well scored with a 88+ ( cored in the past years at 88) and Loma Gorda 06, the wine we commercialize in the US with a coupage similar to the Tintoralba Roble’s one, scored 90 points, that is to say an exceptional mark for this brand-new Tintoralba wine.

2007 Bodegas Santa Quiteria Higueruela Almansa 88+?

($10; 88% garnacha and 12% syrah) Inky ruby. Youthfully brooding dark berry aromas are initially primary but open to show a dusty floral and mineral character. Chewy blackberry and cassis flavors are firmed by slightly hard-edged tannins. Leaves black tea and licorice flavors behind. Is the average $10 buyer ready for such a serious style? And is the experienced buyer willing to trade down to this price point? The garnacha vines for this wine are reportedly 60 to 70 years old.

2006 Bodegas Santa Quiteria Loma Gorda Almansa 90

($12; 65% garnacha and 35% syrah) Dark purple. Cassis and dark cherry on the nose, with smoked meat and black cardamom adding depth and a serious mien. A weighty, structured blend with sweet dark berry compote flavors and supple tannins adding support. Surprisingly lively on the finish, which repeats the dark berry qualities and leaves a zesty, peppery note behind. This is an outstanding value but needs some air to show its best.
