A Video of our Town Spanning the Course of 60 Years

January 29th, 2008

It’s not everyday you have an opportunity to see your town from a historical perspective, but thanks to our former resident, Mateo Tortose, we now can! He has filmed several videos of Higueruela purely out of his own passion and curiosity, compiling scenes that pull back in time to experience what life was like without mobile phones, ipods or blogs.

What’s so fantastic about these videos is your ability to see our pueblo with just a few scattered houses and several hectares of vineyards. You can experience our church of Santa Quitieria, which was constructed in the 18th century by Don Lorenzo Alonso Franco. Built in the neoclassical style, the church was based on the architecture of Classical Greece. The Gothic-Renaissance statue preserved inside the church of San Antonio de Pauda de Roque López of Santa Quiteria is also breathtaking with its ornate lines and simple design. Look out for the etched window and delicately painted statue depicting Santa Bárbara located in the Cerro de Santa Bárbara.

We could go on, but maybe it’s best that you simply enjoy the film! If you have any questions about what you see, please don’t hesitate to ask us! We always love an excuse to chat about our town!

Cheers,
Tintoralba
